Marlowe & Finch Law

About the firm

A Main Street firm, on purpose.

Marlowe & Finch Law opened in 2009 above the hardware store on Main Street, with two attorneys and a borrowed conference table. We are three now, in our own space down the block, and we still keep the practice deliberately small.

Small means the partner who takes your call is the one who reads the file. It means we can quote a flat fee on the work that allows one, because we know how long it actually takes. And it means we can turn down a case that belongs somewhere else without worrying about filling a floor of offices.

Most of our clients come from someone who sat in the same chair a year earlier. That is the whole marketing plan, and it works because the work holds up.

How we practice

Four rules we hold ourselves to.

  1. 01

    Say the number first

Fees come up in the first meeting, not the third. If we cannot quote a flat fee, we say what drives the hours and what a matter like yours has cost before.

  2. 02

    Plain language, in writing

Every plan, letter and agreement gets read back in ordinary words. If a document cannot be explained in a sentence, it is usually the document that is wrong.

  3. 03

    Return the call

Calls and emails get an answer the same business day, even when the answer is that we are still waiting on the other side.

  4. 04

    Know when to say no

We turn down work that belongs with a specialist, and we will tell you when a matter is not worth what it would cost to pursue.

In the community

We live where we practice.

Our attorneys sit on the library board, coach in the youth league, and run a free wills clinic for first responders every fall. Use this space to name the boards, clinics and sponsorships your firm actually takes part in, and leave out the ones you do not.
